Teachings at Goshir Chenrezig Klang
At Goshir Chenrezig Klang (Guo Shuo Guan Yin Xin Zhong Xin), we offer regular teachings from qualified masters of the Karma Kagyu lineage. Our centre is graced by the guidance of Goshir Gyaltsap Rinpoche, one of the four heart-sons of the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa, and we host teachings by eminent lamas who uphold the living tradition of the Kagyu lineage.
All are welcome, from complete beginners to seasoned practitioners. Our teachings cover the full breadth of the Buddhist path — from foundational mind training (lojong) and bodhicitta, to the profound view of emptiness (shunyata) and the esoteric practices of Vajrayana.
Mind Training (Lojong)
Mind training, or lojong in Tibetan, is a core practice in the Mahayana tradition. Based on texts such as Geshe Chekawa’s Eight Verses of Training the Mind and Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment, lojong teachings transform the mind by cultivating compassion, patience, and wisdom.
The Gyalwang Karmapa has given extensive teachings on mind training, including:
- Fifty Verses on the Guru — A series on the characteristics of the genuine guru and the student-guru relationship
- Making Friends with Our World — Mind training teachings from Tysons, Virginia (2018)
- The Karmapa Teaches on Mind Training (Lojong) — Extensive teaching on the initial verses of mind training
- Compassion and Emptiness are the Keys — Commentary on Geshe Langri Tangpa’s Eight Verses, focusing on the seventh verse
Bodhicitta
Bodhicitta — the awakened heart-mind that aspires to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings — is the supreme motivation of the Mahayana path. The Karmapa has delivered numerous teachings on this essential topic.
Notable teachings include:
- Long-Life Offering to Tai Situ Rinpoche and Goshir Gyaltsap Rinpoche — Monlam Pavillion, Bodhgaya (2025)
- The Life of Atisha — A four-session teaching series on the life and legacy of the great Indian master Atisha (2025)
Emptiness (Shunyata)
The profound view of emptiness, or shunyata, is the heart of the Prajnaparamita (Perfection of Wisdom) teachings. Far from being mere nihilism, emptiness reveals the true nature of reality — luminous, open, and free from conceptual elaboration.
Key teachings on emptiness include:
- What Is Emptiness Really? — A clear explanation of the Middle Way (Madhyamaka) view
- The Nature of Everything Is Emptiness — Teaching from Gurgaon (2016)
- How to Truly Practice the Heart Sutra — Practical instructions on the Heart of Wisdom Sutra
- The Karmapa Unlocks the Door to the Heart of Wisdom Sutra — Commentary on the Heart Sutra
- The View of Emptiness and the Path to Buddhahood — Using the analogy of the moon reflected in water
