About
Goshir Chenrezig Klang (Pertubuhan Buddha (Goshir) Chenrezig Klang Selangor / 吧生四臂观音（国师）佛学会) is a Karma Kagyu Buddhist center based in Klang, Selangor, Malaysia. Our center was founded in 1991 when the 12th Goshir Gyaltsap Rinpoche — His Holiness the Twelfth Gyaltsap Rinpoche — came to Malaysia and, together with a group of devoted local practitioners, established this Dharma society to propagate the teachings of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism under the supreme guidance of His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa.
Our Founding
In 1991, the 12th Goshir Gyaltsap Rinpoche responded to the sincere aspirations of Malaysian devotees by traveling to Malaysia and personally founding this center. From these humble beginnings, Goshir Chenrezig Klang has grown into a welcoming spiritual home for the local Buddhist community. Rinpoche’s far-reaching vision — to bring the timeless wisdom of the Buddhadharma to the modern world — continues to guide every aspect of our center’s activities to this day.
The 12th Goshir Gyaltsap Rinpoche
His Holiness the 12th Goshir Gyaltsap Rinpoche (born 1954) is one of the most senior and revered lamas of the Karma Kagyu lineage. Recognized at a young age by His Holiness the 16th Gyalwang Karmapa, Rinpoche underwent rigorous training in Buddhist philosophy, meditation, and ritual at Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim and Tsurphu Monastery in Tibet. As the representative of the Karmapa, Goshir Gyaltsap Rinpoche has tirelessly worked to preserve and spread the Karma Kagyu teachings worldwide, traveling extensively across Asia, Europe, and the Americas to offer teachings, empowerments, and blessings to countless students.
Our Lineage: The Karma Kagyu
We belong to the Karma Kagyu tradition, one of the four major schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This unbroken lineage traces back to the great Indian mahasiddha Tilopa (988–1069) and was established in Tibet by the revered master Gampopa (1079–1153). The Karma Kagyu is renowned for its profound emphasis on meditation practice — particularly the teachings of Mahamudra (the Great Seal) and the Six Yogas of Naropa — and for the enlightened activity of its supreme heads, the Gyalwang Karmapas. The current lineage holder is His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje.
Our Practice: Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion
At the heart of our center is the practice of White Four-Armed Chenrezig (Avalokiteshvara), the embodiment of all the Buddhas’ compassion. Through regular group practice, including mantra recitation and visualization, we cultivate loving-kindness and compassion in our daily lives. These practices are open to all — beginners and experienced practitioners alike. Our doors are open to anyone who wishes to explore the path of compassion and wisdom.
